Do I need coaching experience? Is training available?
No experience necessary! All levels of player can contribute! What is most important is having a positive attitude and desire to share your love of tennis. Training sessions are offered through the year as needed and coaches have access to lesson plans, guidelines, and instructional videos at our website.
What kind of time commitment is involved?
Public Tennis programs are flexible and seasonal, and most are weekly. While lead coaches are generally consistent from week to week, assistant coaches are welcome to participate as their availability permits. For example, a Special Olympics High School clinic has six one-hour sessions (spread over 6 weeks.) Volunteers are contacted the prior week for availability, and have the option to help out with as many sessions that fit their schedule.

In the interest of the safety of the participants, especially children, all of our programs require background checks, and some programs require “Safe Play” online training (approximately two hours of excellent instructional video).
