Bringing the Lifelong Sport of Tennis to Beaufort County Special Needs Athletes

Public Tennis Inc partners with Beaufort County School District Special Education services and SOAR Special Recreation to offer high-quality tennis instruction and play opportunities on public and school courts throughout the county.

Ongoing special needs and Special Olympics programs include:

  • Middle School Programs: Spring & Fall Hilton Head, Bluffton, Beaufort
  • High School Programs: Spring & Fall Hilton Head, Bluffton, Beaufort
  • Various regional, state and county Special Olympic events
  • Special Olympics adults: Spring & Fall Hilton Head
  • Disabilities and Special Needs Facility (DSN) Adaptive Tennis: Beaufort

We need your help!

  • On-Court Volunteers: Bring your tennis skills and passion to support your community!
    • Our instruction and play programs are volunteer-driven.  Typically, our programs are led by a teaching pro or experienced volunteer assisted by a group of volunteers to teach our clinics
      • We offer training using the latest progression-based techniques for teaching youth, adults, and special needs players
    • We need volunteer and “parenteer” coaches, organizers, and team managers for instructional sessions and to organize informal team play
    • Teaching tennis as a volunteer is FUN and rewarding, and no experience or minimum rating is necessary
    • Participation as a coach is flexible — work as much as you can!
  • Off-Court Volunteers: Bring your life skills and passion to support your community!
    • We’re raising funds, applying for grants, and bringing USTA resources to local facilities, to players in need, and to build communities around tennis
    • We’re advocating and planning for new and expanded facilities
